Minority Report – Action Sci-Fi Movies: In the future, a technology and special police force is created to arrest killers before they can commit a crime. An officer within the force is named and accused as a future murderer. “I have to know. I have to find out what happened to my life.”
Washington D.C. 2054. A police force “Precrime” utilizes a technology to arrest and convict murderers before they commit their crime They use three psychic humans to see into the future and foresee crimes before they happen. Precrime’s commanding officer is John Anderton (Tom Cruise), a true believer of the program and it’s impeccable record. John answers to United States Department of Justice agent Danny Witwer (Colin Farrell) who audits the Precrime operation. One day one of the psychics, Agatha (Samantha Morton) predicts John is going to murder a man, he has never met, within 3 days. Now John has to prove his innocents and the only way to do that is to get the minority report — the prediction of the female psychic — that might show a mistake.
Very creative sci-fi story line based on a short story from 1956. The movie had some incredible special effects, chase and action scenes, and well thought out plot. To make the movie and story line more conceivable than other science fiction films, Spielberg consulted numerous scientists. The film was also offered in 1992 as a sequel to Total Recall, but that fell through. Nominated for numerous Saturn awards, it won Best Science Fiction Film, Best Direction, Best Writing, and Best Supporting Actress.
My Rating: 10 out of 10
